about his final mission: to transmit his complete knowledge to the next
generation of teachers and preserve the Chinese martial and healing
arts. <p><strong><a href="http://www.ymaa-retreatcenter.org/yangjwingming" target="_blank">Dr. Yang Jwing- Ming</a></strong>
was born in Taiwan in 1946. He has studied Wu Su since the age of
fifteen under different instructors, most notably Cheng Gin-Gsao, White
Crane, Pai Huo Kao (Tao Tai Chi Chuan, Yangâs division) and Li
Mao-Ching (Long Fist). His academic career is well rounded as well, as
he received a M.S. degree in Physics from the National Taiwan
University in 1971 and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue
University in 1978.</p>


<p>He started working for Texas Instruments in Houston in 1980, founded
the Yangâs Martial Art Academy in Boston in 1982, then left TI in 1984
to devote all his time to the <a href="http://www.ymaa.com/" target="_blank">YMAA</a>,
which has since expanded into the Yangâs Oriental Arts Association,
Inc. He has published a large amount of material, most of which under
Unique Publications and his own <a href="http://www.ymaa.com/publishing" target="_blank">YMAA Publication Center.</a></p>

<p><strong>Stephen Kiernan</strong> was born in Newtonville, NY the sixth of seven children. A graduate of Middlebury College, he also received an MA degree from Johns Hopkins University and an MFA degree from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. In over two decades as a journalist he has won 40 awards, including the Bechner Institute's Freedom of Information Award, the Gerald Leob Award for financial journalism (two time commentary finalist) and the 2003 George Polk Award. He has taught at Middlebury College and the New England Young Writers Conference, and has worked on the staff of the Breadloaf School of English and the Breadloaf Writers Conference. He has served on the board of The Brautigan Library and the Young Writers Project.</p>
<p>At present Stephen is traveling the country, speaking to civic groups, colleges, senior centers and churches about ways to improve the end of life.</p>
<p>Stephen has also performed on the guitar for many years. In&nbsp;<span>addition</span> to recording 3 CDs of solo <span>instrumentals</span>, he has composed music for dance, the stage, documentaries and TV specials.
